White Eyelet Curtains

If you are looking for a very classic design curtain for your living area, you may want to consider cream or white eyelet curtains. They look particularly good on long windows, where the vertical soft pleats in the material give an appearance of elegance.  White eyelet curtains are also often popular choices for nurseries of child’s rooms, kitchens and bathrooms where they match very well with white furniture, such as white corner wardrobes and white bed heads.

If you are looking at choices of white eyelet curtains you will probably notice that most have silver eyelets, this does tend to match better with white although that does depend, to some extent, on the surroundings.  You can also buy curtains with brass colored eyelets. These also complement white curtains and they can actually look better if hung on a wooden curtain pole, or if your room is decorated with more rich colors or the darker earth shades of browns and greens. While it does seem like a very small, and fairly unimportant detail, actually choosing the right colored eyelet can make a difference with your white curtains blending in naturally with your other room décor.

One drawback with light colored or white eyelet curtains is that they do show dust and dirt very quickly. If you are planning on installing them, make sure that the material they are made from is machine washable and easy to dry. It is also best if it is made from a fabric that does not crease easily. You will also want to make sure when hanging them that they do not drag on the floor. Usually eyelet curtains should hover about an inch above the ground. This keeps them from being stepped on and keeps them much cleaner as well.

White eyelet curtains also look great on smaller sized windows. They are very easy to open and close, making them a perfect choice for a younger child’s room although you do need to be prepared to wash them fairly often as small, grubby hands opening and closing the curtains will leave their mark! They also suit a kitchen, where they impart a light, airy feel to the room or a bathroom.
